CHRIS PEACOCK - A LEGACY
In loving memory of my dear friend, soul partner and business partner, Chris Peacock, who was not only a colleague but also a remarkable individual and a true beacon of positivity. Chris’s passing in June 2023 left an immense void in my heart and in our business, Conference Care, which we founded together.
Chris and I both began our careers in hotel management before embarking on the journey of entrepreneurship. In 1993, while Chris was working at the Forest of Arden, we conceived the idea of Conference Care. Two years later, in April 1995, our vision became a reality. With nothing but a couple of car loans to our name (due to challenges in securing investment), we embarked on the Conference Care journey.
Throughout the years, Chris and I shared countless laughs and shed a few tears, but our unwavering commitment to customer service and providing a safe working environment for our team always remained paramount. Despite the challenges we faced in establishing ourselves as a leading venue-finding and events agency, we persevered, driven by our dedication to our clients and our community.
Chris’s legacy extends far beyond our business ventures. As chair and treasurer of the HBAA (now BEAM) and chair of Meeting Needs, he tirelessly supported charitable causes, raising over £100,000. One of his most memorable initiatives was nominating the RNLI as the HBAA’s charity, which led to the Leadership team at Conference Care experiencing firsthand the bravery of the volunteers during a visit to their headquarters.
Chris was renowned for his attention to detail, drive for success, and innovative thinking. His advocacy for sustainability, particularly through VSR (Venue Sustainable Rating), reflected his passion for leaving a positive impact on the planet. Under his influence, Conference Care was recognised as a B Corp organisation, actively delivering the highest standards of social and environmental performance.
The outpouring of tributes and testimonials following Chris’s passing has been overwhelming, a testament to the lives he touched and the hearts he uplifted. He was a man of action, not just words, and his legacy will continue to inspire us to strive for excellence.
To my dear friend and business partner, Chris, may your spirit live on in the memories we cherish and the work we continue in your honour. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
