SUSTAINABILITY

AT CONFERENCE CARE

Conference Care and sustainability go hand in hand. We don’t just meet the minimum requirements – we go above and beyond. We aim to always be a force for good – which means practicing what we preach. By making sustainable choices internally we influence the wider industry. Changing the way the industry thinks & operates is key to a sustainable future.

OUR 3 PILLARS OF SUSTAINABILITY

For some companies, sustainability is just a buzzword – not us. Our three key objectives are based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) blueprint. These are:

We work to reduce, then eliminate our business carbon emissions by 2030.

We aim to make the events industry more diverse and inclusive

We provide innovative solutions to improve sustainability in events

B CORP

In March 2024, Conference Care became a B Corp organisation.

B Corps are companies verified by B Lab to meet high standards of social & environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. We are proud to call ourselves a B Corp, and we are excited to see what more we can do to influence sustainable change.

Sustainability isn’t a tick-box exercise.

It’s having a positive impact on your people, planet, and profit. It’s choosing to work with sustainable brands, such as Exclusive Collection and Huckletree Group.

It’s using sustainable materials in the office and encouraging the use of sustainable materials at all events we work on.

It’s ensuring social sustainability is a top priority when managing recruitment & wellbeing within your organisation and industry. We will always aim higher in these areas.

Our award-winning Plan-It! team is critical to us becoming a sustainability icon.

The team is responsible for the creation of the Carbon Consultancy service – a game-changer in the event industry. They’re also responsible for many of the fundraising events and challenges we have done over the years, raising thousands for our chosen charities.

Now, they’re working on projects to create a workspace that is more socially and environmentally sustainable. It’s through these efforts we’ll meet our 3 pillars of sustainability by 2030 and 2040.

VENUES FOR GOOD

Our Venue For Good (VFG) initiative spotlights venues that go above and beyond to give back.

We assess each venue in line with the UN Sustainability Goals to see which venues are a force for good and have a proven track record of putting sustainability first.

70% of proposals from our Venue Finding Service will include at least one Venue For Good (VFG), charity, or social enterprise by June 2024.

Our list of Venues For Good is always growing, and we will always recommend a VFG in our proposals to encourage sustainable usage to our clients.

You can see some of our featured VFGs on our blog here.

Are you a venue with sustainable credentials? Do you give back to the local community? You might be a VFG.

The team at Conference Care are passionate about many different causes and we encourage them to get involved and give back.

As part of the Plan-It! strategy, we always want to be involved with charities relevant to the events industry.

Pauline Beattie is the incoming co-agency chair of the Association of British Professional Conference Organisers (ABPCO), helping to drive change through the association.

While we always support and encourage volunteering and fundraising for causes close to our team’s hearts, we also have two dedicated charities we support and partner with:

ZOE’S PLACE

We have supported Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice since 2009 and in that time we have helped raise thousands for babies and young children with life-threatening and limiting conditions.

Zoe’s Place has hospices based in Coventry, Liverpool, and Middlesbrough. The nurses support children and their families as they face incredibly tough challenges. Please consider making a donation to help children and their families who are desperately in need of care:

DOGS FOR GOOD

We began our partnership with Dogs For Good in 2023 due to our love for all things canine! Dogs are more than just pets, they can be a lifeline for so many who face barriers and are great at helping people get up, get out, get to work, school, and so much more.

Dogs For Good trains support dogs for a variety of issues, and we’re proud to sponsor a dog in the training program, Angel. Updates from Dogs For Good keep us all laughing at Angel’s antics and excited to see how she will go on to help a lucky human.

Please consider making a donation to this incredible charity.
