London is Open…

January 11, 2019

More than 100,000 people flocked to London on New Year’s Eve to watch over 8 tonnes of fireworks illuminate the London skyline.

I have watched the fireworks many times on the banks of the River Thames and every time I just think it is magical. Despite living in London, this year I watched from the comfort of a friend’s house in my slippers 😊

Nonetheless, I still had an overwhelming feeling of pride. I thought the display was stunning. The theme and concept set out to demonstrate that “London is Open” and for me, I think the organisers smashed it.

When the opportunity to work for Conference Care in a brand-new role as Head of Sales for London came up, I jumped at it. For more than 10 years I have worked alongside the team as a venue and hotel supplier. I have always admired what Conference Care have done for the industry and I wanted to be a part of their future vision and growth.

As I fast approach 6 months in the role, I have not looked back.

The events industry is worth an estimated £42billion, and London remains the number one position for EMEA meetings and Events. This is undoubtedly an exciting place to live and work.

With Conference Care now having a London base, there are some significant benefits for our clients.

Flexibility

We can be in front of a client to discuss a brief, to catch up, to debrief, to attend a last-minute site visit or be on site during an event at a moments notice. We all work in an agile environment and diaries can change. Being in London means we can be as flexible as our clients require.

Knowledge

I personally try to walk as much as possible in London. Not only is it good for me, but I am constantly keeping an eye on new openings, new buildings and exciting new spaces that are opening. At Conference Care we are committed to being the experts. We make it our business to be on top of the latest developments. Being here means we get to see what’s happening as it’s happening and even before it happens!

Variety

London is full of hotels, but it’s also home to so many quirky and unusual venues. Many of our clients at Conference Care are looking for creative spaces. They want variety. We love the extensive options available in London. From rooftops, to white spaces, to warehouses and everything in between. It’s an exciting time to be working in meetings and events.
