With scope 3 reporting for events on the horizon, our client — a leading financial wealth management company — wanted to raise awareness and influence sustainable behaviours across the business when planning and delivering events.
The Events Team had previously used another system to measure the footprint of their larger events, but found the process time-consuming and the recommendations too generic. They were looking for a solution that provided clear, specific, and actionable guidance.
Sustainability already sat at the heart of the client’s business strategy, supported by an environmental policy and a Supplier Code of Conduct outlining responsible practices across their supply chain. They asked Conference Care to help them develop a Sustainability Framework tailored to events, including principles, deliverables, and measurable outcomes.
Our Approach
Our Carbon Consultancy service takes a consultative approach—working event by event to measure impact and provide targeted recommendations for improvement. Rather than just reporting on data, we translate findings into practical steps that reduce the footprint of future events.
Key areas of support included:
- Introducing Carbon Consultancy for their annual Sales Event over the past two years, enabling us to track year-on-year improvements and demonstrate measurable reductions in event carbon footprint.
- From August 2024, implementing our Carbon Disclosure Service across all event bookings. This provides carbon footprint estimates at proposal stage, with half-year and annual reporting on tCO₂e across catering, accommodation, and event space. This allows both the Events Team and Sustainability Team to assess overall and per-delegate impact.
- Developing a tailored Event Sustainability Checklist, accessible to all staff, to embed sustainable decision-making at every stage of the planning process.
